It's only the road to provincials for the winner. The Provincial format has changed this year, and with it the VMSL changed their choice of entrants. The VMSL will be represented by 4 teams, which are the winners of Div 2A/2B/2C plus the Div 2 Cup winner.

It is a shame that vmsl does not do a better job seeding the cup draw. teams that do well in league play should not have to play other top teams in the early rounds of the cup. for example, bombastic and myb panthers (2nd and 4th place in div2b respectively) play in the 1st round, with the winner playing ubc metro (1st place in div2b). meanwhile, there are div3 and cat teams playing each other. it is a joke. the best teams should be playing each other in the later rounds of the cup, not in round 1. makes no sense.

No it doesn't make too much sense, but when has the league ever made sense in the past?? I don't think it would take more than 15 minutes to seed the top teams and then draw out of a hat thereafter.

Actually, it is seeded -- The leaders of 2A, 2B, 2C, and CAT are the top 4 teams and if they all win will meet in the semi-finals.

With the multi-group structure of div 2, everyone plays different teams during the season, so how would you rank the 2nd place teams from the different groups? I guarantee no matter how the league did it someone would complain.

The fact that the cup is partially seeded makes it even more maddening... its like the league is saying, "we probably should seed it but we are lazy so we will just seed the top 4..."

there are several ways of doing it, dezza, none of which are perfect, but all of which would be way better than the current system.

So who are the favorites? Having played in 2C this year, I'd be worried as the other two groups have superior goal scoring according to stats...or should we be smiling because they don't play defence?!?! haha

But really, who are your favs? Besides selecting the group winners, I'll go with Rino's B as they're like Germany when it comes to Cup time...they almost always make it far.

Machel, if you're from 2C do you have any report on GFC United? Looks like they've had some trouble scoring but they've taken some points off of some of the better teams in 2C.

GFC is a team that has a way of winning in weird ways. We beat them in our first game and then in our rematch they scored in the 90th to beat us 1-0. After the game the ref came over and told us he couldn't believe how we could lose a game after dominating like we did. Our bad though for not putting the ball in the back of the net when we had the chances.

Rino's 1-0 up over Club Punjab and the lights went out a few mins into the 2nd half of extra time. Very frustrating because our actual home time is Saturday at 4pm so I don't know why we got the Friday night'er.

Thanks. That was sarcastic. We gave up only about half the amount of corners that we did against Point Grey. And scored in the first half.
