World football's governing body FIFA have been passed the results of the autopsy on Cameroon's Marc-Vivien Foe who died in a Confederations Cup match in June.
The file was passed on by French justice officials who confirmed that the 28-year-old player died from a heart attack.
"The post-mortem revealed that the midfielder died from heart failure," said a FIFA statement.
"He suffered from a hereditary cardiac hypertrophia of the left ventricle, and a hypertrophia of the right ventricle.
"Comprehensive explanations provided by experts also led to the conclusion that tropical illnesses could also be ruled out as causes for the tragic death."
Foe died after collapsing during Cameroon's Confederations Cup semi-final against Colombia in Lyon on June 26.
