I caught the first part of the presser and the three of them, Pres, GM and new HC looked really uncomfortable up there - as they rightly should have been.

But normally the new hiring is a celebration, not a press conference where the questions are attacking your handling of the prior losing coach.

Rutherford apologized then basically took a different tach blaming the media for the rumours and the problem.
That guy is no leader, the GM neither.

Aquilini didn't seem to be around and I can see why.

What I didn't understand with the Canucks and Boudreau and his staff is how they seem to not have addressed defensively how to prevent the breakaways and out-of-position play.

Also, maybe the minutes for the top players issues that Tocchet spoke to.

Boudreau has had a 50 year career in the league, has had a lot of (regular season) success, is near the end, saved their asses last year (including fixing Petey - just ask Petey), and is universally well liked. If you're not cleared to hire a new guy, but you've decided Bruce isn't it, don't say "yes we're looking" and let him twist - that's the part that's complete BS and the fact that players are now coming out and all but saying it is quite telling. They kept Mike Yeo on the new staff - why not fire Bruce and have Yeo do it on an interim basis until you're cleared to hire someone else? Wouldn't cost a dime more. Just bizarre.

Good luck re-signing Petey next year... also... if they're willing to treat a 600 win coach this way, it makes you wonder how they treated Rachel Doerrie (who, of course, is out today with her own narcissistic "open letter to Bruce" that's really all about her)

The problem is obvious and has been since 2011. Alberto Davisini hires 15 AGM's, insists on making all the big decisions himself, and then cries about having to pay too many head coaches when it doesn't work out. Re-tooling doesn't work, has never worked, and is all they've tried to do since 2011. It's how you bottom out your prospect pool and end up with overpaid players at all levels of your roster construction.

Bluntly, their D is AHL level - with the exception of Quinn Hughes and even that needs a * because he's instant offence at both ends of the ice. They let Halak go, so with Demko out forever they're rolling out two #3 goalies behind that AHL level D. And they can't figure out what the problem is. Fcuking remarkable.

The day they traded for OEL and Garland I said that they'd set the franchise back a decade. Unless ownership takes a masterclass on the virtue of patience, I'd say that's looking wildly optimistic...

For me, time to move on and past this episode - twatter is getting stupid, almost MAGA cult-like.

For example. Friedman says he talked to someone in Vancouver who said...
Twatter idiot says "Friedman talked to someone in the Canucks organization who said...
and idiots run with it and pile on.

agreed on both points. Twitter just another propaganda outlet.

the Canucks is just the latest playmobile collection for the Aquilini's. Save your time and money and support something else.

It’s definitely just as much Friedman and his types fault it got to this.
Everyone’s after the story before it breaks, but this is a case maybe where you just let it happen on its own?

Well that problems solved. What’s next? Fire the equipment manager? Seems like the most logical next step no?

great message... new kid gets the dough, but nothing for the captain you're supposed to be building around... the one guy on a cheap cap hit that had value as a rental and they extend him... guess they're planning on contending again next year... morons...
