Who knows if he ever crossed the line for a criminal conviction but he seems to have at the very least not known the boundaries between coach and friend. This seems to be the case for him to be released by the Whitecaps and soccer Canada but unfortunately does not stop him from coaching young girls.

"the solution is to have a female staffer present whenever you have male coaches dealing with female players... no one on one meetings, no closed doors, none of that shite... you protect BOTH parties that way, frankly..."

This solution seems pretty obvious but it doesn't seem the Whitecaps learned it if they later had a coach fly out to meet a female player for a game that was not happening and them having to share a room.

BTW what is wrong with your Bruins. Can't they at least beat the leafs before they loose to the Lightning?

Interesting that the Brits have already issued a follow up story and are clearly hounding Whitecaps, Birarda etc. for comment. Their media tend to be rather relentless. If they remain interested in this story that will likely keep turning up the heat on all involved.

Whitecaps out with another statement today. No doubt the timing of it is to coincide with whatever "protest" the Southsiders are planning for tonight.

Still all boilerplate "we ensure workplace safety" blah, blah, blah. Has a real "we brought in an independent ombudsperson, so that means we did everything we could have" vibe to it. Now they say they have alerted VPD, whatever good that will do . Whether or not anything criminal occurred that can be proven in a court of law remains to be seen, but it would appear clear that the Whitecaps are maintaining a position of "we did everything we could and this is not our problem so stop bugging us." Not sure that is going to fly...

More interestingly someone over at the BC Soccer Twitter feed seems to have gotten a little bit loose with the keyboard:

Not sure that will end up being BC Soccer's official position on this and I wouldn't be surprised to see that tweet vanish soon...

The only thing that could possibly fix this is if the owners fire the whole front office, then get in front of the media, and start with: "Bob Lenarduzzi, John Furlong, Greg Anderson, and Rachel Lewis, and the rest of the front office have been terminated from their positions. You know why. We need to be better, and we will be. Questions?"

Then, sit in front of the media and take the bullets.

Even then, it is going to take a long time for the public to trust them again.

Top 25 club in the world, LOL. They aren't a top 25 club in BC at this point.

Wow! Twitter is going off! They are taking a flogging!

This is better than anytime Big Bag gets on TTP and posts under any of his names.

agree 100% on that. in fact, second hand often smokes out the first hand account... we shall see...

Now that people are starting to come out with more specifics, where are you at with this? Legally, what do you see happening here?

Well one good thing with John Furlong being at the Caps head office you at lease someone is getting "beat"

Perfect guy to handle this mess as he tends to forget things like "oh when he came to Canada for the first time"

What a clown....

Does anyone else think signing a non disclosure agreement to evade possible sexual harassment litigation demonstrates intent to “Weinstein” this issue?

What "specifics" are you referring to?

The bio of the lawyer hired to handle the investigation makes my skin crawl... social justice warrior, diversity / inclusion / talking circles word salad garbage. It screams Spanish Inquisition; the only thing I can't figure is in which direction she willl point her blade...

The comments about Furlong are inappropriate and arguably defamatory. The lawsuit against him died, so unless someone has some pretty good proof of him smacking his students up north, I'd be thinking about taking that post down. Oh yeah - you don't: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/new...by-journalist-laura-robinson/article26430550/

As for the non-disclosure, it's a contract between two parties. If either chooses to break it, for whatever reason, there are likely defined consequences contained within the four corners of the agreement. I suppose at some point, one of the parties could decide that the benefits to breaking it outweigh the costs...
