Maybe a chance

The only way a ball team would even have a chance to survive, or even start, would be if the league let them stack their team for the first 2 years so they made the playoffs, or even the semi's to drum up fan support.

If they pull a stunt like the NBA did with the Grizzlies and say "OK, here's $20 build a team" then it will never work.

The only way you'll get fans out is if you have a competitive team, and history shows that expansion teams do not do well at the start.

In short, it will never work.

Didn't we have a problem keeping the Canadians at 1 point?

One Dart/any other baseball players,

How much would cork in a bat influence the flight of the ball? Obviously, there would be some difference but is there really enough to make a huge deal over Sosa being ejected for this? Curious, I guess(about cork in bats).......

Because enquiring minds need to know...

During the plethora of tv I slept through today, I overheard much about Slammin Sammy. According to the bat manufacturers and a couple of physicists, the overpowering properties of a corked bat are more myth than anything. Both the manufacturers and physicists said, after testing, that at most it would only about 10 yards to a well struck pitch.

While 10 yards could possibly be the difference between a home run and a warning track catch, its more likely the case that it would simply add to crack that was already out of the park. Doesn't seem worth the risk.

Now, if we can only get the manufacturers and physicists to determine how Sidewinder's darts stay airborne..

No one, even K-pat who teaches Science 9, will be able to explain that motion. Whoever lost to him last night must be pretty humiliated at this point. Right, Sidewinder? ;)

It has more to do with making the bat lighter. You can watch a pitch for a split second longer before swinging, because batspeed is faster. Like using an aluminum bat.

Ping!

Are you saying Sammy took roids? Just because he added 35 lbs one off season, added another 10 the next, and at 5'11" weighs about 250 lbs, doesn't mean he took roids.

No doubt, Sammy takes or took roids because every one else in the league does. If not, he wouldn't be slamming Sammy. Next time you watch a game, watch for a guy who's helmet looks like it is too small. (Barry Bonds, Brett Boone) Now your head stops growing at a very young age, so for anyone's head to grow like that they are not only on steriods but also on Human Growth Hormone. Scary stuff.

Corked bats are common in forms of baseball as 10 yards is a lot of extra distance on a ball. Hitting a 290 ft can of corn sure isn't as good as a 305 ft HR. It is an insurance thing as to make sure the ball leaves the park. I personally have used a corked aluminum bat and the difference was noticeable. On the risk factor you just look at the coin. A 25 HR hitter makes a shite load less that a 35 HR guy.

It's all about the money:D
