A note in today's New Westminster Newsleader newspaper states that Africa United received $45,000 in contributions, such as Uniforms, balls, etc to help AU run its kids soccer academy. The donations came from Canadian Tire's Jumpstart Charity and from Inaria Soccer which is owned by Performance Sports Group.
Another newspaper article mentioned that AU charges players $30 to play for the summer, and it is hoping to expand its program to operate all year round. Many players are of African descent, but players from other places also participate.
