Whoever the pioneers of this are, completely brilliant. Turn Metro into this elite exclusive BCSPL, a few short years later metro is BCSPL. Parents pay thousands instead of hundreds for some guy with an accent, Brilliant. I’m sorry I’ve seen local youth soccer, it’s shite. Money hasn’t made it better.
It’s the same problem there has always been. I use street hockey as an example. The kids in my neighbourhood play 5-6 hours a day, basically everyday. Sure bring your kid to elite academy soccer or 5 sessions a week. That’s 5 hours of structured soccer. These kids are putting in 40 hours a week of free play hockey. Some obviously in actual structured hockey as well on top of that.
You just can’t get good enough playing the amount we do. Until kids are in the streets or battling with friends at the park for hours on end, the ability just won’t be there. Not compared to many countries that do have kids doing that.
