You can show off anything in a highlight reel.

Appears jinky, constantly moving, not one dimensional. Seems pacey but we'll see. But yeah, another midget.

Seems like it should solve all our scoring problems no? And our defensive ones too!!

I find it odd that he’s not Canadian though, seems like we need more of those to draw the fans out.

There is no way...is there? Maybe big clubs simply weren't making moves due to the pandemic?

Whitecaps are trying to sign the Dutch phenom Jizz Horncamp

On January 30, 2021 Jizz exploded in the final 3rd of the game and busted in four goals in 34 minutes, ruining a clean sheet and resulting in a 4-4 draw against SBV Excelsior all of them were assisted by Norwegian schemer Jonny Hansen. The event caused Jizz to erupt all over Twitter [7].9FA64579-15C4-466C-83A5-4D3B1E511607.png

A bit of catch-up news here 'cause #ittakesavillage - stupidest on-going marketing slogan in the history of the Internet... Anyways...

Whitecaps "home" season opener is scheduled for April 18th:

Vancouver Whitecaps FC will commence their second decade in Major League Soccer when they host Cascadia rivals Portland Timbers on Sunday, April 18 at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live across Canada on TSN and TSN GO.

5 Caps missing pre-season partially due to Olympic team call-up qualifying:

Vancouver Whitecaps FC players Theo Bair, Michael Baldisimo, Derek Cornelius, Patrick Metcalfe, and Ryan Raposo have been called up to the Canada U-23 national team for Concacaf Olympic qualifying later this month, the club confirmed on Wednesday.
First qualification game is 1 week from today

New Assistant Coach joins team:

Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Thursday that the club has hired three-time Major League Soccer All-Star, two-time MLS Cup champion, and recent Houston Dynamo FC Academy coach Ricardo Clark as an assistant coach with the first team.

“We are very happy to welcome Ricardo to our coaching staff,” said Marc Dos Santos, Whitecaps FC head coach. “We wanted to bring into the staff someone who had been in the league, experience overseas and on the international stage, as well as a passion towards coaching and working with young players. Ricardo brings tremendous experience and we look forward to welcoming him to the team as he takes this next step in his coaching career.”

New Signing Alert:

Vancouver Whitecaps FC bolstered their midfield on Friday, acquiring 22-year-old Caio Alexandre (kai-o ah-le-shan-drey) via transfer from Brazilian club Botafogo FR. Caio Alexandre has agreed to a four-year contract through 2024. The Brazilian will officially join the roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate, medical, work permit, and visa.

“We are very pleased to welcome Caio Alexandre, who embraced our vision here in Vancouver, despite him also having offers from clubs in Brazil,” said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC chief executive officer and sporting director. “We are building a young, energetic team with a very clear identity and expectation. In his young age, he has already proven he can perform in one of the top 10 leagues in the world. The calendar will be very demanding this year and adding a player with Caio’s qualities will only improve our group.”

Whitecaps FC central midfielder Caio Alexandre

  • Signed with Botafogo FR first team in September 2019, signed extension in April 2020
  • O Globo, Brazilian newspaper, ranked him ninth overall as the biggest revelations during the 2020-21 season
  • Started 46 of 50 first team appearances across all competitions during the 2020-21 season
  • Captained Botafogo FR U-20 side in 2019
“Caio Alexandre has the volume and technical ability that will add a different dimension to our team,” added Marc Dos Santos, Whitecaps FC head coach. “He has the characteristics of a box-to-box midfielder who works extremely hard on both ends of the pitch. We’ve been following him closely for some time as he fits the profile we wanted to add to our group. We are very happy to have him join our club.”

New Signing Alert:

Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Tuesday that the club has acquired fullback Bruno Gaspar (gash-parr) on loan from Portuguese Primeira Liga club Sporting CP. Gaspar, who will occupy an international roster spot and officially join the club's roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC), medical, work permit, and visa, will be on loan through the end of 2021, with a club option to purchase.

“Bruno brings a wealth of experience from a number of very good leagues in Europe,” said Marc Dos Santos, Whitecaps FC head coach. “As we continue to improve our roster piece by piece, Bruno is one part of additional moves we are looking to make. It’s important that we make sure we keep competition at a high level throughout our roster and Bruno will bring that to our team. We are very happy to have him join our club.”

Whitecaps FC fullback Bruno Gaspar

  • 204 appearances for club and country
  • 2019-20 Super League and Greek Football Cup winner at Olympiacos FC
  • 2018-19 Taça da Liga and Taça de Portugal winner at Sporting CP
  • Featured for Olympiacos FC and Sporting CP at UEFA Europa League
  • Angola national team member after representing Portugal at youth levels

That's what you've been told your whole playing life.

I've been totally checked out. Frankly, I'm amazed they were able to sign anyone. Who wants to come to a burning tire fire of an organization when you will have to play on the road all year? Oh, maybe someone desperate to rejuvenate a career? Or someone who has been overpaid?

Yeah.

I will get back into it, but....yeah.
