There were other options to get the game played but he/them couldn't agree to get it done even though all the other mainland teams in their respective cups managed to make it over to the island to play their games???

Actually there was a Richmond team heading to play Prospect Lake in the Women's B cup, Sat at 4pm that would have been on that same cancelled ferry and obviously didn't make it. Game cancelled and rescheduled for this weekend.

Likely the only reason Columbus made it over to play Cowichan on Saturday in the Masters A Cup is because Duncan is actually closer to Duke Point and those guys live near HWY 1 so they would have left from Horseshoe Bay which didn't have the same problems causing cancellations at Tsawwassen.

Anyone who thinks the teams not making it to the Island to play aren't upset about it, or didn't try hard enough to make it is out to lunch. If we're going to make BS statements about who should have to forfeit for not agreeing to put themselves at a huge disadvantage due to some insane travel plan to get it done, then how come I didn't hear anything about Gorge offering to come to the mainland on Sunday to make sure the game got played?

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Good Afternoon Team Managers and Adult Leagues,

As you may or may not be aware, the cancellation of some ferry routes this weekend led to the cancellation of two BC Soccer Adult Provincial Cup games. These cancellations are part of the Women’s and Men’s B Cups.

BC Soccer has explored several options for proceeding with the competitions and determined that, depending on the outcome of certain matches this weekend, BC Soccer will try to schedule mid-week games; however, we are aware that players/teams may have mid-week obligations and that mid-week games cannot be played if one team needs to travel to or from the island.

If necessary BC Soccer will reschedule the finals for the Women’s and Men’s B Cups to the weekend of May 25th/26th. The date/time/location for these matches are currently to be determined.

BC Soccer thanks you for your understanding in this matter. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

You play all year against the same teams so when a road trip comes up in a provincial cup game, the boys are excited. Regardless of A,B, Masters. Can you imagine planning on a ferry, it blows like sh*t in the straight of georgia, and now you potentially move ferry terminals to Horseshoe Bay? Or try to get on the Duke Point. Good luck. Play the games

I'm not sure I understand your point Why would Gorge offer to go to the mainland?????
We offered to play Saturday and Sunday ( if we win) this coming weekend to keep the Cup finals weekend in tact.. for some reason it's declined . Here's an idea, how about BC soccer let's the teams involved decide instead of making some dumbass ruling.

Tad,

The issue with your team playing on Saturday (and Sunday) is that Metropolitan FC would not know until late Saturday whether they have to go to the Island or not.

Also, Graduates FC would also have to schedule then semi-final game in the case they win. Going to the Island, playing a game, coming back home and then playing another game the following day wold be too much (just my opinion).

The weather has got its hooks into this tournament with one of the semis being delayed because Graduates could not make the ferry to the Island to play Gorge. Metropolitan, who are in red hot form an probably title favourites at this point, will have the weekend off while that semi goes ahead. If Graduates emerge victorious, BC Soccer will look to fit the other semi in during mid-week, otherwise the entire competition will be pushed back. Tough news for the other half of the draw with Abbotsford playing Serbia this weekend and then it will be a waiting game to see whether or not they need to play to head for Nanaimo next weekend. Regardless, for the winner it will be a good problem to have!

Completely Baseless Predictions
Men’s B Keith Millar Provincial Cup

Quarter Finals: 2/3*
Overall: 9/19

Semi Finals:

Abbotsford United B (FVSL) v FC Serbia United (VMSL) -Saturday 4:15pm @ Matsqui #4, Abbotsford
This one is shaping up to be quite the match with both of these sides in form. At this stage either one of these matches could be Match of the Round, irrespective of who ultimately advance to the other semi. In this one, Serbia have hardly broken a sweat in their two matches, looking every bit the VMSL powerhouse they were expected to be. Back to back 3-0 wins over the FVSL's Surrey United and then RASA's champions AC Richmond has them looking poised for a shot at the title, with only FVSL champions Abbotsford standing between them and a trip to Nanaimo. Their win over Richmond would have given them some extra spring in their step after it was Richmond who knocked out Sierra in the previous round, the team that pipped Serbia to the VMSL title and promotion to Division 1. Abbotsford had no such trouble in their domestic league, winning automatic promotion and the FVSL Division 2 title. However, after smashing VISL entrant Hellas FC 5-1 in their opener, Abby were made to work hard for it in the last round in their first taste of VMSL opposition when they needed penalties to see off Shaheen. The North Shore side finished third behind Serbia, so it stands to reason this should be a slightly stiffer test for the Valley side. Their hero in the last round was goal keeper Arturo Silva and he will need to continue to be in top form if he is to keep out the dynamic Serbian strike force of Pedro Vega and Ramsey Alfantzi who scored 40 league goals between them. This should be a cracker with both sides confident that they will be emerging victorious and heading for the final on the Island (of course the final is subject to change due to the weather issues delaying the other semi final). Likely a toss up here, but I will give it to Serbia based on their infallible record to this point of the tournament. If Abby struggled against Shaheen then things against Serbia will not be any easier and, if the game needs a winner late, you have to fance either Alfantazi or Vega to pop up with the crucial goal.

Gorge Us-Guys (VISL)/Graduates (RASA) v Metropolitan FC (VMSL) - TBC

Serbia 3-1 over abby... score doesn't say how game went... 1-1 until last 5 minutes. Scored 3rd goal while we had everyone pushed up

Well, bright side is at least we can enjoy the wedding now lol. Good luck to rest of the teams. Having said that, I dont think theres really a big gap between fvsl and vmsl like there used to be.

Not sure if Gorge played strong game or Graduates were just not ready. Score 4-1 for Gorge.

Graduates were not in the game from the beginning and game was one sided. Score could of been higher.

Looking foward to the next game and on to next round.

Like I mentioned earlier, the Gorge should have gotten the win in the earlier round. Onto Metro, and are you playing tomorrow? It would be bad sign if BC Soccer doesnt get the other semi game before the big weekend and pushed the final week later. Disaster imo.

Well he’s in the b form thread on ttp. What do you think he’s comparing?

I mean it's a stupid comparison.

Would you compare English Championship with Spanish Segunda to measure the relative strengths of football teams in those countries?
