Anyone know where to find the schedule?

I haven’t heard anything about our game this weekend. At this point I’m just assuming we’ll be playing at Shaheens usual field/time?

Schedule is here https://bcsoccer.net/adult-provincial-cup

However BC Soccer may have the worst website in the world. At best you could describe the software they are using as not user friendly...

You have to click on the cup you want and then the tab that says "brackets". Also I don't think the software that shows the brackets, etc. is compatible with mobile as I can only get it to load on my laptop not my phone.

Mission plays Shaheen at Confederation on Sunday at 4.

It seems like the B Cup might have snuck up on the leagues this season with all the inclement weather. Further complicating things are the FVSL who still have their cup finals to play and will be conflicting with this weekend's opening round action. Fortunately, this has only affected on of their entrants. For everyone else, we shall see if the teams are as caught off guard with this tournament starting as some of the leagues!

Standard Disclaimer:
For those not familiar with my column, I am largely just pulling this stuff out of thin air. I try to find whatever information is readily available online, but ultimately I am just trying to generate some interest in local soccer in BC. If I have omitted or overlooked facts that you consider relevant to your team or league, it's not done intentionally...get over it...;)

Completely Baseless Predictions
Men’s B Keith Millar Provincial Cup
Preliminary Round:

Hellas FC (VISL)
v Bacardi FC (BMSA) - Saturday 12:30pm @ PISE Turf, Victoria
This one is likely to be a fairly even match up. Hellas were second place in the Vancouver Island Soccer League's 3B division, while Bacardi finished fifth in Burnaby's Premier division. Usually that would not be good enough to earn them a place in the Provincial Cup, but they stunned league champions Impero Calcio in the League Cup final. So they come into this one with some momentum, but we will see how they handle travelling to the Island. A hallmark of this time of year is the home field advantage that seems to appear whenever a ferry ride is involved. In addition to home field advantage, Hellas look to have the edge in terms of fire power as their two leading scorers, Yiannia Mavrikos and Elliot Mitrou, who have 15 and 14 markers respectively, combined for for more goals between them than the entire Bacardi team, who manage just 26 over 16 league games. Perhaps their knack for winning in knockout competitions will carry them forward in this one, but with the travel factor and the offensive punch, Hellas have to be favourites here.

Shaheen FC (VMSL) v Mission SC (FVSL) - Sunday 4:00pm @ Confederation Turf, North Vancouver
Likely the Match of the Round, it is always entertaining when the Vancouver Metro Soccer League and the Fraser Valley Soccer League clash for their annual measuring stick. Last year Mission were ousted by VMSL Div. 2 hotshots, and eventual Provincial Cup finalists, Coquitlam Metro Ford Lupi after they looked to perhaps have a shock on the cards before Lupi ultimately slipped past them. They will look to but that right in their first match this season when they tangle with former Division 1 side Shaheen. The North Shore based team hovered around a return to Div. 1 before ultimately falling out of contentions and resigning themselves to yet another year in the lower leagues. It was a similar story for mission who, after a slow start, nearly pulled off a shock promotion challenge before settling for second place. This game should be very well matched and could likely go either way. Dan Hill is the main man for Mission after netting 15 goals this year, while Meysam Soltani, who had 11 during the campaign, will be looking to lead Shaheen into the next round. Tough to find a clear favourite, but I will tip Shaheen given that they are the home side as well as based on the factor that is always hotly contested this time of year, the VMSL's historic superiority over the FVSL!

Langley United Dynamo (FVSL) v Westside FC Sierra (VMSL) - Sunday 6:00pm @ Yorkson Turf, Langley
Tough spot for Dynamo as they will be playing in the Presidents Cup final on Saturday before hosting Sierra Sunday. Dynamo are a veteran crew, so we will see just how well the bodies respond to having two games in 48 hours. Like Mission, they strung together some solid results down the stretch and outside shot at a late promotion bid before settling into a comfortable third place finish. Meanwhile, it was mission accomplished for Sierra who moved over from the BMSA in search of a new challenge. They ultimately won the VMSL's Division 2B title and will be playing in Division 1 next season. Ideally this will be their final shot at the Provincial B cup, so they will surely be up for this one. Target man Brian Stewart leads the line for Sierra and he will be hoping to add to the 18 league goals he recorded this year by power Sierra to a deer Provincials run. Dynamo are certainly gamers, in addition to be rumoured to be one of the classiest side around the Lower Mainland, and will not simply be throwing the towel in because of their scheduling issues. That be said, it is difficult to see how they get through this match, especially when it is against one of the VMSL's top entrants.

Richmond All Blacks (RASA) v Surrey United SC (FVSL) - Sunday 5:30pm @ Minoru Oval, Richmond
It was an underwhelming season for the 2013 Provincial B Champions and perennial Richmond Adult Soccer Association challengers Richmond All Blacks. A distant fourth place finish in this season's RASA top flight is well below their usual standards. In fact, they needed to win the RASA playoffs in order to earn a playoff with West Coast just to get into this season's tournament. They will pit their years of experience in this tournament against B Cup debutantes Surrey United. Surrey were fighting tooth an nail for first place and promotion in FVSL Div. 2 through the winter break, but their 2019 form has left much to be desired. Both these teams will be hoping to kick themselves back into gear in time to make a deep tournament run, but likely neither side really come into this competition as contenders to win it all. Of course the belief in their respective dressing rooms is no doubt there, it just come down to who can carry that onto the pitch. Toss a coin here, I'll give it to the home team.

NK Hrvat (VMSL) v Aldergrove United Lightning (FVSL) - Friday 8:00pm @ Empire Turf South, Vancouver
Losing the VMSL's Div. 2 cup final mean that NK Hrvat ended up playing in their preliminary round instead of enjoying a bye. They certainly have no one to blame but themselves for their failure on All Cups day after opponents Metropolitan ended up have two players sent off and missing a penalty during the opening 90 minutes. Hrvat also had a chance to win the title during the penalty shootout, but failed to take their chance. Whatever magic they had captured during their run to the final was evidently no where to be found on that day, as they looked much more like the side that finished an ambivalent sixth place in the VMSL 2B table. They will be hoping that their cup for return, and in a hurry, because if they play like they did in their last match, they win hardly be a match for a hungry Aldergrove side. The Lightning looked favourites for promotion from Div. 2 in the FVSL for most of the season, however, in the end they could not hold off a challenge from a strong Abbotsford side. They will look to take out their frustration on the rest of the Province in this competition and Hrvat are surely ripe for the beating. The Vancouver side will be at home and, as mentioned, are known for their Cinderella-esque abilities come cup tournaments, but I think Aldergrove will score one for the Valley in the ongoing sparring match between these two leagues.

Meraloma FC (VMSL) v Graduates FC (RASA) - Saturday 2:00pm @ Empire Turf South, Vancouver
After a somewhat surprisingly strong season, Meraloma, the club known more for their rugby prowess than their footy, find themselves in the Provincial Cup. For reasons unknown (possibly rugby related) they have opted to move their home game away from their clubhouse and grass field at Connaught in favour of the turf at Empire. We will see if this decision comes back to haunt them, but with a potent attack that put up almost 60 goals this season, they will be confident they can compete anywhere, against anyone, on any surface. On the other side this week will be the RASA's third place finishers and cup winners, Graduates FC. Lucas Jacob and his 14 goals are a big reason why Graduates are in this competition and the Richmond side will need him to maintain that sort of goals scoring form if they are to have any chance of a run. It is a bit of a drop off to their next leading scorer in Owen Sincair who notched half that amount with 7 goals on the year. Contrast that with Lomas who boast Cian Daly who netted 15 times along with Michael Pearson who had 12 and Scott Kaye who scored nine and it would seem that Graduates might be slightly outgunned. Of course it all comes down to which teams shows up on the day, as it can often be one moment of magic or madness that makes a difference this time of year, but all things being equal Meralomas look to have the edge in this one.

Euro FC (BMSA) v Vancouver Strikers (VMSL) - Sunday 7:00pm @ Burnaby Lake West #4, Burnaby
Stepping up to fill the void at the top of the league in the BMSA this season after Sierra's departure was Euro FC. They pushed Imperio Calcio for the title, but ultimately came up just short. Certainly a tough draw for them to get one of the VMSL's two Division 2 champions in Strikers right out of the gate. In addition to their title and promotion winning season, Strikers also come into this one as the defending Provincial B Champions. That being said, an upset is not entirely out of the question, especially considering the way Strikers meandered towards the finish line in league play plus the fact that they were ousted at the first hurdle of their domestic cup by mid-table Hrvat. Jordan Pink is the danger man for Euro after a 10 goal season, but he will be tasked with outshining VMSL Golden Boot winner Bryan Da Cruz who scored and impressive 23 goals in 22 matches. Euro will surely give this one a go, but Strikers have to be clear favourites coming in.

Mundiadvocat (BMSA) v Prospect Lake Lakers (VISL) - Saturday 4:00pm @ Burnaby Lake West #1, Burnaby
At the bottom of the draw this is a bit of a toss up. Mundiadvocat finished in a respectable enough third place in the BMSA, but that is not likely to strike fear into the hearts of their opponents. Prospect Lake on the other hand won their group in the VISL's Division 3, but, of course, must travel for this one. At home the Lakers would surely be slam dunk favourites, but the travel factor always seems to play a roll. The teams here will also be motivated given that, should they advance, they will be playing a mid-table side from the FVSL, which should be another pick'em. Assuming leading scorer Jordie Hughed and his 17 goals are on the boat to Burnaby, the Lakers will like their chances. Mundi are outgunned by a top VISL squad, but will be hoping a 4pm Saturday kickoff leaves the Islanders at less than full strength. Assuming they get a full squad, I like the Lakers to overcome their journey to the Mainland and earn a return trip for next week.

B.C soccer is stuck in the 80's era and they don't use computers, they use typewriters. The results will be printed next week.

Mundiavocat beat Prospect Lake on penalties. 0-0 at half. 1-1 at full time and end of extra time. Was wither 5-4 or 4-3 on penalties. There was a lot of missed/saved ones. Was 8 or 9 rounds

Go Mundi!

Graduates 5 - 1 Lomas

Not too surprising. Graduates are a good hard-working team who scored a bunch of goals in the league. Their play is similar to Strikers imo.

@Canucks4Ever , Richmond get 3 teams in this tournament and they are the 1st, 3rd and 4th placed teams. Why isn't the 2nd place team in?

RASA do North American style playoffs at the end of their season and All Blacks won those. From what I can see, that earned them a chance to playoff against West Coast (league runners up) for the final Provincial Cup spot.

AC Richmond get the league's seeded spot as league winners; Graduates get in by winning their domestic cup competition.

We could have had quite a few more, good team but we shut them down in the finals third of the field. They got a couple decent chances. Nothing too dangerous though. Onto Serbia for round 2. Best comment was “ I can’t beleive we lost to a bunch of drinkers”
