turf is closed if frozen or snow. Anyone at Ambleside today?

Ambleside will be fine. Has not snowed in WV for 20 years below Mathers Street, as they installed underground heaters in the whole Municipality. :p

Dress warm Freddy!!!!

That's because it's run by the school board not the park's board.

Umm not really. The grass field up top with the track around it is a school board field, but the artificial turf is under the jurisdiction of the Parks Board (just like Point Grey). Both have reserved usage before 5 pm on weekdays for school groups due to their locations.

Gurps: if you think the Vancouver site is confusing, try the North Van one...

All, we have found this communication of field closures to be a significant breakdown between clubs and members (and travelling members). We are looking for introductions to clubs like VMSL and others who's members could benefit.

Our system, PUSHes field status changes via email and text messaging to the members as they request it, based on their personal settings. All done cost effectively for the clubs and no spam/advertising.

Using our system, you could have one site to look at and it would present the current status of all related fields.

We are already doing this for Houston, TX area clubs - Bay Area Youth Soccer Association - Rainout & Field Closure Information

Wanting to help and alleviate this thread's problem. - eric.snell@statusme.com

Regs:

It does make one wonder how other comparably-sized jurisdictions handle this type of communication, although Houston is a poor example (uniform climate and topography throughout the region) to compare with Vancouver.

Aside from that, Eric The Spammer, you blew it.

All New West fields except for the turf at Mercer closed this weekend.

Vancouver fields still open: Hastings Bowl, Adanac, Carnarvon, Montgomery, etc... all "user discretion." Turf fields still closed.

Burnaby: everything closed except for Byrne Creek.

You're welcome.
