Men’s varsity soccer ID camp for 2003 born boys. Scroll back and you’ll see what the chatter is about.

A lot of things happen every day all over the world?

TSS commencing an action against the BCSA

Well I don’t quite know what to say to you on this except there were about a fifty 2003 year boys at UBC last night, and again today, for the eval camp. No girls in sight :)

TSS commencing an action against the BCSA

It’s not really about high school soccer. It‘s about high school sports. Hard to stop a season for the whole school year :) From what I’m seeing, these HPL players are playing all sorts of high school sports. My son plays soccer and rugby at school.

TSS commencing an action against the BCSA

And being realistic about UBC specifically, they may bring 1-3 HPL players into their larger roster from this 2003 group. They’re a top program. Is my kid a top five HPL player? No. UBC is the toughest school of them all to crack.

TSS commencing an action against the BCSA

I definitely said that but they are separate. He plays BCSPL because he was selected to the team many years ago and enjoys the challenge. He’s going to university for the academics first and soccer has zero to do with where he goes...although wherever he goes he may look at playing. School...

TSS commencing an action against the BCSA

To reset: UBC was used as an example because they’re holding an evaluation camp (open and not invite-only), they’re a big university, my son plays in the league who’s directive is to feed college and university soccer programs, and neither the league nor the club notified the players/parents of...

UBC eval camp runs this eve and tomorrow and the cost is $50.

TSS commencing an action against the BCSA

Open. And I’m familiar w him not putting much stock in HPL players but that’s not the point at all. I’ve stated above what I think and it has zero to do with how schools prefer to recruit. I’m looking at BCHPL and Fusion. Example: we know BCSPL didn’t notify the players. Did other clubs? I know...

TSS commencing an action against the BCSA

    1) It’s no secret that UBC mostly looks at Whitecaps players. 2) Fusion is not a club that UBC normally takes seriously. 3) That said, the best university soccer program in the province is holding an ID camp and neither league nor club notified its stakeholders. When your league’s mission is...

Maybe our club won’t be one for much longer if they don’t get their sh*t together

TSS commencing an action against the BCSA

So if this is the directive at club and league level, how the hell can UBC (Canada’s top soccer program) run an ID camp and we get crickets from league and club? And Fusion is in the back yard of said university. It’s truly mind boggling.

TSS commencing an action against the BCSA

And back to that league pillar thing: UBC is hosting an ID camp for 2003 boys this weekend. You’d think that every single player in BCSPL would be notified. Nope. You’d think my son’s club (Fusion) would notify their 2003 boys team. Nope. I mean what the actual f*ck?

TSS commencing an action against the BCSA

Yes that’s my point. They get selected at 12 years old into BCSPL. I’m wondering how many on each roster are laser focussed on university soccer and how many just happen to be strong players and that’s where their abilities landed them when they tried out 6 years ago. It’s possible my son is an...

TSS commencing an action against the BCSA

My son plays BCSPL. He plays for the competition and it’s not really on his radar to leverage soccer into a university scholarship. I see a ton of chatter here that indicates that a scholarship is the focus of playing BCSPL. Is it? Is my son an anomaly? I don’t know...

TSS commencing an action against the BCSA

I agree with @Rangerforever. I haven’t seen players play down if they’re of the ability. I’m sure each club is different but on Fusion I believe there is cost relief through their sponsor, Windset Farms for those that can‘t afford the fees. I am concerned about the watering down of the league...

    So Uber. Have you yet?

Anyone know what has happened to the value of cab licenses? I believe at one point they were in the $1M range and were coveted. I believe they are worth a little less now...
