After three seasons with York United FC, goalkeeper Nathan Ingham is departing the club. The 28-year-old, a native of Keswick, ON, has been a first-team regular since the inaugural Canadian Premier League campaign in 2019. Overall, he accumulated 62 appearances for the club across all competitions and kept 14 clean-sheets. Owing to the calibre of his performances, he was also shortlisted for the CPL's Golden Glove award for Best Goalkeeper in 2019. Most recently, he enjoyed an excellent 2021 and despite some minor injuries still racked up 22 appearances and 1,900 minutes of action while he captained the side against Valour FC in mid-July. Memorably, he made two crucial penalty saves in a pair of big league wins: the first from Tristan Borges in a 1-0 victory over Forge FC at Tim Hortons Field while he also denied Lukas MacNaughton during a massive 2-1 away triumph over Pacific FC that ended up booking The Nine Stripes a playoff place for the first time in club history. “Nate has been with the club since day one so it is only right that we recognize the contribution he has made," says CEO/President & GM Angus McNab. "He had a great year but the reality of a salary cap means we need - both us as a club and Nate as a player - to look at opportunities that that are a better fit for each other.” For Ingham, the thrill of competing for his local pro side is something he'll never forget. “Thank you for trusting me to be your starting goalkeeper these past three seasons. York will always have a special place in my heart and I wish everyone the best moving forward. It was an honour to be a part of my hometown team for their first three years of existence."
