York United FC has sent incoming striker Lisandro Cabrera on a short-term loan deal to Dominican Republic side Atlético Pantoja, the club announced on Thursday. Cabrera, a 23-year-old native of Argentina, joins Pantoja ahead of its high-profile Concacaf Champions League round of 16 matchup with Mexican giants Monterrey next month. "It's very simple and the move makes sense for all parties," York United FC CEO and President Angus McNab said in a media release. "Lisandro is very keen to play matches, Atlético Pantoja have some key games on the horizon in the Concacaf Champions League and we want to ensure all players come into our environment in the best condition and form. The challenge against Monterrey will be massive and a great opportunity for both Lisandro and York United to be introduced to a huge audience in Mexico that will be watching that game."

York has 23 players confirmed for the 2021 season. Cabrera is one of seven internationals, the maximum amount permitted on a CPL roster.
