Valour FC grabbed their third win of three to open the 2021 CanPL season Saturday, taking down Atlético Ottawa 2-0 on a rainy night at IG Field in Winnipeg. Rob Gale’s side went top of the CanPL table at The Kickoff as well as they continue to silence critics going into the season. Ottawa was denied a goal early in the first half when Keesean Ferdinand volleyed home a shot after Ben McKendry headed a cross back across the goal. Officials on the field reversed the decision, citing a foul. Valour took advantage of the misfortunate with starlet Raphael Ohin scoring just before halftime with a near-post rocket past Ottawa goalkeeper Dylon Powley. Ottawa searched hard for an equalizer but it never came. Winnipeg, meanwhile, grabbed an insurance marker from the penalty spot with Moses Dyer converting just minutes after the final whistle.
