York United grabbed the final points on offer at The Kickoff in Winnipeg, Man. Saturday, proving good value for a 1-0 win over FC Edmonton in the 32-game opening single-site start to the 2021 CPL season. York’s Isiah Johnston scored the match’s opening goal in a breakneck opening 15 minutes, offering a beautiful finish on a cross into the box from Max Ferrari. The Eddies had their own chances, though, especially in the final quarter of play. Attempts from Fraser Aird, Easton Ongaro, and Tobias Warschewski were sent wide or parried by Nathan Ingham, who grabbed five saves.
