Pacific FC announced the signing of 19-year-old full-back Emile Legault on Thursday. A dual Canadian and French international. Legault, who can play any position along the back, joins the club days before the season debut on Sunday, April 28 at Westhills Stadium. "Emile is exactly the player we needed to strengthen our squad to be even more competitive," said Pacific FC head coach Michael Silberbauer. "He is a perfect fit with his young age and abilities with the ball." Legault, 19, was born in Longueuil, Quebec and raised in Saint-Lambert. He has played for AJ Auxerre's under-17 team based in Burgundy, France for the past two years. Legault made his debut in the Canadian youth program in 2016 and represented Canada at the 2017 CONCACAF Men’s Under-17 Championship in Panama with Pacific FC teammate José Hernandez more recently at the 2018 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship in the U.S. He also competed at the Toulon Tournament with Canada’s under-20 squad alongside fellow Pacific FC midfielder Noah Verhoeven. "There was lots of interest in Emile from European teams as well as MLS," said Pacific FC CEO Rob Friend. "He’s is a sought after young player and we feel fortunate to have him join us." Legault joins 17 players who have been named to Pacific FC's roster, including Marcel de Jong, Marcus Haber, Kadin Chung, Mark Village, Nolan Wirth, Ben Fisk, Victor Blasco, José Hernandez, Matthew Baldisimo, Terran Campbell, Noah Verhoeven ,Alessandro Hojabrpour, Hendrik Starostzik, Lukas MacNaughton, Blake Smith, Ryan McCurdy and Issey Nakajima-Farran. Pacific FC kicks off its inaugural season on April 28 against the HFX Wanderers at Westhills Stadium. Kick-off is set for 4:00 p.m. PST.
