In one of the latest major signings in the Canadian Premier League, soccer journalist Kristian Jack joined CanPL.ca this week as the league's VP of Media & Content ahead of the 2021 season. The veteran soccer journalist was on this week's CanPL Newsroom podcast to discuss joining the league's front office, the Canadian men's national team, and... Jack Grealish?

Jack will be looking to bring his two decades of covering soccer in this country to grow coverage of our country's own league, something that he says is "special" for him. "There's something special about what's happening with this game in this country," Jack said on the podcast. "I think that more and more people every day are falling in love with this league. There's nothing more special for me than having that team you can follow and be in your back garden, and represent where you're from." Jack said that it's local stories like that that he wants to be a part of, but also can't wait for matches to begin later this month. The Kickoff will take place from June 26th to July 24th, in a bubble environment in Winnipeg, acting as the start to the 2021 CPL season. After that, the hope is that clubs can return to their home cities, and fans can return to the stands and watch their favourite clubs for the first time in well over a year. "I'm really excited to tell those stories and continue to be at the forefront of what our owners are trying to do in the Canadian Premier League," he said. "It's telling more stories, getting these players' access out there, and I can't wait to wrap our arms around the games. The games bring the real credibility, and I'm excited to talk about those games, get those games out there, and then tell the stories about the games."
