Forge FC has signed Costa Rican youth international attacker Joshua Navarro on loan from Costa Rica top-tier side A.D. Municipal Pérez Zeledón, the club announced Tuesday. Navarro, 22, has made over 60 appearances for Pérez Zeledón since making his pro debut for the club in July 2018 at the age of 19. He has registered 10 goals while logging over 3,100 minutes played. He has also spent time with their U-20 squad dating back to 2017. "We are very happy to have Joshua join our club," Forge FC director of football Costa Smyrniotis said in a release. "At a young age, he has amassed valuable experience in a very strong Costa Rican league which will serve him well as he transitions to CPL play with our club."

Navarro made two international appearances for Costa Rica at the 2018 Concacaf U-20 Championship and notched one goal and one assist. The young attacker is Forge FC’s 18th player signed for the 2021 CPL season, joining fellow newcomer Dejan Jakovic as the lone “new” face in Hamilton, not counting Tristan Borges' return on loan from OH Leuven. Forge will open the CPL season – which starts with "The Kickoff" presented by Volkswagen in Winnipeg, Manitoba – Sunday, June 27th against Valour FC (2pm ET).
