Forge FC wingback Kwame Awuah has been named CanPL.ca Player of the Week (for August 20th-27th) following two comprehensive performances at Tim Hortons Field – and an injury-time equalizer to boot. Awuah’s cross-turned-shot against HFX Wanderers FC last Sunday gave Forge a point in the dying moments and put a cap on a spectacular game up Hamilton’s left flank where he led the team in successful passes (60), touches (100), tackles (three), and interceptions (three). The 25-year-old wideplayer followed that up with another impressive showing in a 4-0 win over Atlético Ottawa – including an inch-perfect cross on Woobens Pacius’ opening goal. Awuah is the second Forge player to earn player of the week honours joining teammate Kyle Bekker, Cavalry FC’s David Norman Jr. and Daan Klomp, Valour FC’s Jonathan Sirois and Andrew Jean-Baptiste, and Ottawa's Alberto Soto as past winners in the 2021 season.
