Forge FC forward Emery Welshman and goalkeeper Quillan Roberts are Gold Cup-bound with Guyana. The pair were named to Guyana's 23-man 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup squad Thursday. Welshman, a forward, has nine appearances for the Guyanese national team, scoring seven goals. The FC Cincinnati loanee scored the game-winning goal in Guyana’s 2-1 victory against Belize last March, a win that sent the team to its first-ever Gold Cup. Roberts, one of the three goalkeepers listed, has yet to make an appearance for Guyana having previously represented Canada. His one appearance for Canada’s senior national team side came in 2015 when, he replaced Milan Borjan with five minutes remaining in a 3–0 win against Puerto Rico. He was also part of Canada’s squad for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, but did not garner any minutes of action. As such, Roberts is eligible for a one-time switch in FIFA registration, and can thus represent Guyana from his father’s side. FC Edmonton defender Kareen Moses and HFX Wanderers goalkeeper Jan-Michael Williams had been named to Trinidad and Tobago's 40-man squad but were not listed on their country's 23-man shortlist. Williams has made 81 appearances for the Soca Warriors since 2003. Moses joined Williams in the preliminary squad, having made seven appearances for Trinidad and Tobago since 2012.
