Forge FC may be without forward Kadell Thomas for at least one upcoming bout against Pacific FC on Sept. 28, after the 22-year-old picked up a face injury in his team's 2-2 draw at home vs HFX Wanderers FC last weekend. Thomas, who managed 42 minutes against the Wanderers, underwent surgery after being hit in the mouth in the first half of play, when he and HFX midfielder Andre Rampersad collided while contesting a mid-air cross. He was quickly substituted off the field, and Thomas was also not named to coach Bobby Smyrniotis' squad for Wednesday's rematch with the Wanderers in Halifax, either "Kadell needed immediate care after getting hit in the face on Sunday," a Forge club representative told CanPL.ca. "He underwent successful oral surgery Monday and has begun the recovery process. There's no timetable for a return as of yet." While Thomas is one of many forward options available to Smyrniotis, the Forge tactician will still hope for a speedy recovery for his player, as the Brampton, Ont. native has played a key role as both a starter and as a bench option, scoring three goals in 14 total appearances for the Hammer. With Forge looking to close out the Fall portion of the 2019 CPL season in hot form, Thomas' absence could be of some concern for Smyrniotis, as match congestion sees the team play every three to four days from Sept. 28 to Oct. 16.
