Forge FC players weren't the only CPLers in action over the past week. The handful of players currently out on loan in Europe and Central America began to hit their stride over the weekend, with most of them debuting for their clubs, and at least one breaking out in a big way. CPL fans will be happy to see players representing the league and their parent club well in some of the world's top footballing nations. Here's how CPL players fared on loan in the past seven days.

Easton Ongaro (FC Edmonton) — Vendsyssel FF (Denmark)

Ongaro has now started four games in a row for his Danish club, with a pair of appearances in the past week. FC Edmonton's forward played 73 minutes last Wednesday in a water-logged league match, subbed out with the score 1-0 for Vendsyssel before opposing Skive IK scored a late equalizer. Ongaro earned the call again on Saturday against HB Køge, playing 67 minutes of the 1-0 loss. Ongaro is still waiting for his first goal in Denmark, but he's been the side's first-choice striker since arriving. Vendyssel remain in ninth place in the Danish second tier, with nine matches played. They're next in action on Sunday, Nov. 1, when they take on third-place Silkeborg.

Michael Petrasso (York9 FC) — Barnet FC (England)

It was a heck of an afternoon on Saturday for Petrasso. He made his debut for Barnet in an FA Cup qualifying round tie against Leiston FC, starting on the wing. Petrasso's impact was felt quickly; after the Bees went down 1-0 early on, the York9 star equalized in the 15th minute with an intelligent run to finish off a shot that rebounded off the goalkeeper. Both sides scored again and, with the score 2-2 near the end of the 90 minutes, Petrasso came through again to knock home a loose ball in the box after a corner kick. His debut brace saw Barnet safely through to the next round of the competition, on an afternoon where a slew of positive COVID-19 tests meant the squad had just three substitutes available (none of which was used). "My first game back in England in almost three years, I’m happy to be starting off on a good foot for the club, and scoring two goals is a great start for me," Petrasso said pos-tmatch when speaking to Barnet's media team. The club's manager, Steve Jenkins, also praised Petrasso for his performance, especially after his lenghty layoff since The Island Games. Barnet are now through to the first round of the FA Cup proper, and they'll await the results of the draw on Monday. A couple of Petrasso's former teams in England are among Barnet's possible opponents, including Leyton Orient and Oldham Athletic. Petrasso's next opportunity for involvement will be a Tuesday afternoon league match, away to Wrexham.

Nicholas Hamilton (York9 FC) — Dundee FC (Scotland)

Hamilton was once again not on the bench this weekend for Dundee, as they defeated Greenock Morton 1-0. The Scottish Championship side play again next Saturday against Raith Rovers, when York9's Jamaican striker will hope to debut.

Julian Ulbricht (York9 FC) — 1. FC Phönix Lübeck (Germany)

The young York9 player started yet again for his German side on Saturday, helping them to a 2-1 victory over 10-men Holstein Kiel II. He played 73 minutes in the match, leaving while the score was 2-0. Phönix Lübeck sit comfortably in sixth in the tight Regionaliga Nord standings, although their 15 points has them just one back of the three teams tied for second. Next, Ulbricht's side will travel to play LSK Hansa on Saturday.

Emil Gazdov (Pacific FC) — 1. FC Nürnberg (Germany)

Gazdov still awaits his debut for Nürnberg's U-19 team, having sat out a 2-1 loss to SV Darmstadt 98 on Saturday. Their next contest will be next Sunday against Karlsruher SC.

José Escalante (Cavalry FC) — CDS Vida (Honduras)

Escalante started and played 83 minutes on Saturday in Vida's 4-1 win over Honduras Progreso. Thanks to the win, Vida shot to the top of their Group B standings, and they sit third overall in the Honduran top flight. It seems there was some confusion surrounding the match, with several positive COVID-19 tests in the Vida ranks and a miscommunication over a request to reschedule the match. It went ahead as planned, though, and Escalante's side came out on top. Their next match is this Thursday against fellow Group A contenders Marathón.

José Galán (Valour FC) — CP Villarrobledo (Spain)

Valour FC's 34-year-old Spaniard returned to the pitch in his native country on Sunday. He came on as a substitute for Villarrobledo at halftime, playing 45 minutes to help see out a 0-0 draw against Socuéllamos. The club's next test is this Sunday, when they'll play Don Benito as both sides look for their first win of the 2020-21 campaign.

Viti Martínez (Atlético Ottawa) — Alavés B (Spain)

Martínez also made his debut for his Spanish club this weekend, getting 15 minutes as a substitute in Alavés B's 2-0 win over Arenas Club — the side's first match of the year after the prior week's postponement. The Atlético Ottawa midfielder came into the number 10 role, and helped them secure the clean sheet. The side will be on the road next Sunday, when they take on Racing de Santander.
