York United netminder Nathan Ingham slots in at number 40 in the CPL50 after another strong campaign between the sticks for the Nine Stripes. Ingham started 21 regular season games and recorded six clean sheets, allowing 1.14 goals per game. He was a constant for Jimmy Brennan's team this season, stepping up when needed especially early in the season when York went through a crisis of injury among their defenders. One of the best pure shot-stoppers in the league, Ingham's quick reflexes and aggression proved valuable for York in 2021 as he came up with some massive saves for the club. He also turned away two penalty kicks this year, stopping both Tristan Borges and Lukas MacNaughton from the spot with well-timed dives to deny what would've been back-breaking goals for York to concede. The 28-year-old from Keswick, Ontario has been very reliable for York since the 2019 season when he took the starter's job and never relinquished it. Ingham landed with York after bouncing around several clubs, including K-W United and FC Edmonton in the pre-CPL days, as well as a five-year stint at Florida Gulf Coast University. Since that inaugural season, Ingham has made 62 appearances for York -- behind only Diyaeddine Abzi for the all-time lead at the club.
