The Canadian Premier League’s commercial partners and sponsors aren’t sitting on the sidelines during the current health crisis going on around the world. On the contrary, they are taking leading roles in launching COVID-19 response initiatives to help people during these very trying times. For instance, the CPL’s official kit provider, Italian sportswear company Macron has launched the non-profit project "Stop Covid-19/Macron #noicisiamo." The company is using its production and logistics organization in Asia and in Italy for the manufacturing and distribution of personal protective equipment, such as FFP2 and surgical masks, hospital grade overalls and gowns for healthcare workers, operators of the civil protection and for law enforcement personnel. Volkswagen Canada is helping support Beamsville, Ont., Dillon's Small Batch Distillers who has been using their distillery facilities to produce hand sanitizer for general public purchase, as well as free of charge deliveries to first responders thanks to the help of various partners, including Volkswagen Canada. WestJet Cargo is supporting a domestic lifeline for Canadians through continuing to transport blood and associated products across the country. Every day, WestJet Cargo is shipping approximately 300 kilograms of blood products to all of the major cities in the nation. In partnership with the Canadian Blood Services for over 15 years, WestJet Cargo will ensure patients in need will be able to receive products that will be incredibly necessary. Tim Hortons has taken to the streets across Canada in their mobile serving vehicles to say 'Thank You' to the front-line workers who are putting their own lives at risk, to serve those in need. Tim Hortons has deployed their vehicles and staff and are visiting various hospitals to deliver free coffee and baked goods to the doctors, nurses and hospital staff who are working tirelessly in the battle against COVID-19. Sports drink sponsor, PepsiCo Canada-owned Gatorade is building on a ten plus year partnership with Food Banks Canada, has donated an incremental 500,0000 servings of Quaker, Gatorade, Aquafina and Frito Lay products valued at $350,000 for distribution to COVID-19 affected people across the country through Food Banks Canada. As part of PepsiCo’s global COVID relief efforts, the PepsiCo Foundation is donating $140,000 to Food Banks Canada’s COVID fund to support nutrition relief across 10 Canadian provinces. To provide healthy food for kids who don’t currently have access to school meals due to COVID-related closures, the PepsiCo Foundation is donating $70,000 to Food 4 Kids, a non-profit with expertise in providing vital nutrition for at-risk, low-income or disadvantaged children with limited or no food during weekends or extended school breaks. Leading home and auto insurer, Allstate is offering an incentive to people for staying home. Allstate’s “Shelter In Place Payback” program is a 15 per cent discount being offered to American customers in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the challenges customers are facing with the pandemic, combined with the decrease of vehicles on the road, Allstate wanted to lend a helping hand. The program is working on being extended to the Canadian market. Brown-Forman, that produce el Jimador tequila, recently announced a donation of $1 million U.S. to COVID-19 emergency funds. The donation announced supports multiple locations across the U.S. and agencies as Brown-Forman assess community needs and identifies the best ways to support those impacted by COVID-19. We applaud our partners for their efforts and making a difference in communities from coast to coast.
