Canada Soccer announced Thursday that the Canadian women’s team will compete in an invitational tournament in China next month. The four-nation, single elimination competition will run from Nov. 4-10 in Yongchuan. Canada will play Brazil on Nov. 7, while China will take on New Zealand. The winners will then square off in the final on Nov. 10, while the losers will meet in the third-place match on the same day. Canada is seventh in the current FIFA World rankings, ahead of Brazil (No. 11), China (No. 16) and New Zealand (No. 23). The tournament will allow Canadian coach Kenneth Heiner-Møller to prepare his team for the Concacaf Women’s Olympic Qualifying competition, which will take place in early 2020 "It’s great to have these women's national ream matches in November as we prepare for the Concacaf Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament," Heiner-Møller said in a news release. "The China tournament features semifinals and a final, so we will really get that tournament feeling, but we also have the opportunity to play two good matches against high-level teams." Canada’s last game was a 4-0 road loss to Japan in an international friendly earlier this month. Heiner-Møller’s side boasts a record of seven wins, three draws and three losses in 2019. Canada has recent history with each of three teams in will face in China, including a win over New Zealand in the group stage of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
