The Canadian women's national team will continue preparation for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia & New Zealand in Le Mans, France next month. On Wednesday, Bev Priestman announced her squad for that camp, which will include a friendly against the 5th-ranked French national team on April 11 at 3:00 p.m. ET /12 p.m. PT (broadcast live on OneSoccer). With national team regulars Desiree Scott, Deanne Rose, Nichelle Prince, Janine Beckie and Shelina Zadorsky all missing out through injury, Priestman's lineup includes a few notable changes from that which represented Canada at the SheBelieves Cup in February. Manchester United fullback Jayde Rivière returns from injury and could be a key player for Canada at this summer's World Cup. The squad also includes dual-national defender Sydney Collins, fullback Bianca St-Georges and 17-year-old attacker Amanda Allen. Canada last played against France at the 2020 Tournoi de France, losing 1-0. They have not defeated the French national team since the quarter-finals of the 2016 Summer Olympics, losing their last two meetings by a score of 1-0. Priestman must soon make the difficult decision of whittling that roster down to 23 players to take to the tournament proper, which kicks off for Canada on July 21, 2023.
