Canadian men's national team striker Jonathan David will attempt to be the latest Canadian to capture a top tier European title Sunday when his first-placed Lille OSC side faces Angers SCO live on OneSoccer (3pm ET/12pm PT, Sunday) on the final day of the Ligue 1 season. Lille is one point ahead of pre-season favourites and second-place Paris Saint-Germain, who play relegation candidates Brest at the same time. A win for David and Les Dogues will guarantee the title for the northern French club – their first since the 2011-12 season. If Lille were to lose, and PSG draw – to tie them on points – the first tiebreaker is goal difference, in which PSG have a commanding lead.

David, 21, is looking to become the latest Canadian to win a top-flight European championship. Besiktas' Cyle Larin (33 caps for Canada, 12 goals) and Atiba Hutchinson (85 caps), Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield (19 caps), Red Star Belgrade 'keeper Milan Borjan (50 caps), Jessie Fleming (81 caps), and Bayern Munich starlet Alphonso Davies (19 caps) have all won league championships this season – a record year for Canada. The attacker is second on Lille with 12 goals – which stands as a record for most goals by a Canadian soccer player in a top-five men's European league (England, France, Spain, Italy, and Germany). David, a native of Ottawa, Ontario, joined Lille this off-season from Belgian side KAA Gent, where he scored 26 goals in 50 senior appearances. David has scored 11 goals in 12 appearances for Canada's senior men's national team since making his debut in 2018. In 2019, David was named Canada Soccer's Canadian Men's Player of the Year.
