Alphonso Davies' trophy cabinet is getting crowded. The Canadian phenom and his Bayern Munich side captured the DFB-Pokal title on Saturday, cruising to victory over Bayer Leverkusen 4-2 in the finals of the German Cup. With the win, Bayern completed a Bundesliga-DFB-Pokal double in the final match of their domestic 2019-20 season. It's Bayern's 20th DFB-Pokal championship, and their fifth in eight seasons. Serge Gnabry added a second goal less than ten minutes later with a blast as Bayern looked in complete control. Robert Lewandowski added a bizarre insurance marker early in the second half when Leverkusen 'keeper Lukáš Hrádecký mishandled a shot from distance. The Polish striker completed a brace late in the second half. Sven Bender's headed goal in the 63rd minute and an injury-time penalty from Kai Havertz weren't enough for Leverkusen, who have not captured a DFB-Pokal title since 1993. As for Davies, his pace was on display once again, with the 19-year-old left fullback snuffing out several Leverkusen breaks. He also produced one of the nicest attacking sequences of the match, though Lewandowski failed to convert the ensuing chance. Davies has ascended to global stardom since joining Bayern from the Vancouver Whitecaps last year, a run that recently saw him named the Bundesliga's rookie of the 2019-20 season. Incredible performances against Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League and Schalke and Eintracht Frankfurt in Bundesliga play further cemented his place in Bayern's starting lineup. Davies isn't the first Canadian to complete a German double – current York9 FC assistant Paul Stalteri won both the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal with Werder Bremen in the 2004-04 season.
