Canada Soccer revealed on Monday the full women's national team squad that will take part in the two upcoming friendly matches against Nigeria as they continue their Celebration Tour. The team will be in British Columbia for both matches, the first being on April 8 at Vancouver's BC Place, and the second at Starlight Stadium in Langford on April 11. The two friendlies will be part of the women's team's continued celebrations after winning the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics last summer. This tour to B.C. will also serve to honour Christine Sinclair, as she returns to play in her home province for the first time since breaking the all-time international goalscoring record in early 2020. The matches will also be a farewell to goalkeeper Stephanie Labbé, who has announced that she will be retiring from football after this international window. Canada Soccer announced that it will be honouring some former greats of the women's national team during this tour as well, with newly-minted Canada Soccer Hall of Fame members Martina Franko, Randee Hermus, Karina LeBlanc, Brittany Timko Baxter and Rhian Wilkinson set to be recognized at halftime in Vancouver. Coach Bev Priestman named 29 players in total to the squad, including 22 members of the team that won gold in Tokyo.
